The teacher was calling names in the class: liu hua. Then a student answered loundly: Yeah. The teacher was angry and said: Why don’t you say dao? The student answered: That word is called ye.
Can you get the point of this joke? That’s the teacher make a mistake to read ‘烨’into ‘华’. And the student wanted to correct the teacher, saying that it’s ‘ye’. However the teacher misunderstood that the student answered the English word ‘yeah’.So the teacher asked the student to answer in Chinese to say ‘dao’.
In Chinese language, this word ‘烨’ pronounces yè which has the same sound as the English word yeah.Moreover the English word yeah has the Chinese meaning as 到.So that’s where the joke comes from..
