美国人：“你们中国人的确是一个勤奋的民族。” 中国人：“何以见得？” 美国人：“每天早晨经过街道，我都可以看到路旁的招牌写着‘早点’两个大字，提醒过路上班的人，快点，不要迟到。”
American:“it is true that you Chinese are a hard-working nation” Chinese:“how you know that?” American:“every moring I pass a street to go to work, I see there are many signs along the street wroted“early”, reminding people going by the street of “hurry up or you will be late for work”
Well, I think Chinese people are definitely hard-working, but the cute Amerian has the conclusion from a wrong place. The Chinese words which I translated into“early” are 早点。 The phrase has two meanings, one is “hurry up”as the American thinks. The other is breakfast. So there’s no doubt that the foreigner has to pass a full-of-snack-booth street every morrning to go to work.
