Interrogative pronouns of general denotation(1)

The same interrogative pronoun can be used twice in a sentence with reference to the same person, thing, time, location or manner. In its first occurrence, the interrogative pronoun is used in an indefinite sense, but in the second occurrence, it refers definitely to the meaning of the first interrogative pronoun. The first and second interrogative phrases are often connected with “就” . for example,

你什么时候挣够了钱什么时候再买车。
你想怎么过就怎么过！
银行的钱不是谁想借，谁就能借到。
你想去哪儿就去哪儿！
你爱怎么着就怎么着。

The same interrogative pronoun can have different grammatical functions in the two clauses, for example,
谁有知识，我们就向谁学习。
哪种办法好，我就用哪种。

Note: if there is a subject in the second clause, “就” is usually placed after it. We cannot say：“银行的钱不是谁想借，就谁能借到。”“谁有知识，就我们向谁学习。”“哪种办法好，就我们用哪种。”
