Use v. 用(yòng)
The usage of 用(yòng) 用(yòng) is used in the first part of a serial actions. The phrase of用(yòng) + N often shows tools, manners or methods of continuous action.
Sentence pattern: Subj. + 用 + N + V
Examples: 1, This American student writes his diary in Chinese. 这(zhè) 个(gè) 美(měi) 国(guó) 学(xué) 生(shēng) 用(yòng) 中(zhōng) 文(wén) 写(xiě) 日(rì) 记(jì) 。
2, That American company provides it’s services by e-mail. 那(nà) 个(gè) 美(měi) 国(guó) 公(gōng) 司(sī) 用(yòng) 电(diàn) 子(zǐ) 邮(yóu) 件(jiàn) 提(tí) 供(gōng) 服(fú) 务(wù) 。

The usage of 还(hái) 是(shì) 还(hái) 是(shì) is used to present two or more possibilities in an alternative question. Sometimes, 是(shì) ...还(hái) 是(shì) ...can be used as a pair of conjunction words.
Examples: 1, Are you Chinese or Japanese? 你(nǐ) 是(shì) 中(zhōng) 国(guó) 人(rén) 还(hái) 是(shì) 日(rì) 本(běn) 人(rén) ?
