双重疑问句 Double interrogative sentences

Some yes-no questions contain another question, which is signified by an interrogative pronoun. The common verbs that form the double interrogative sentence include “知道，认识，了解，明白，懂得，记得“（their objects frequently contain subject-predicate phrases）, or “ 想，有，能” (their objects often contain verbal phrases).

你知道中国为什么要实行计划生育吗？
你明白他说的话是什么意思吗？
你认识他是谁吗？
你算得出现在全世界会有多少人吗？
One may answer either yes-no questions or questions of particular reference. One will often give an affirmative answer to a question of particular reference, or a negative answer to a yes-no question, for example,
A: 你认识他是谁吗？
B: 他是小王。
C：我不认识。
