When placed after expression of time, “ 以来” indicates the span of time starting from a certain point in the past until the time of the conversation. Words like “自”，“从”and “自从” are frequently used in front of “以来”. For example,

开学以来， 这是第一次口语考试。
进入夏天以来，她的身体一天比一天好。
从结婚以来，他们还没有一起出国旅游过。
