不但+不\ 没……， 反而……  The construction “不但+不\ 没……， 反而……”

     The adverb “反而” implies a meaning that is opposite to the preceding context, and serves as the turning point of the sentence, for example,
  
   他这次病好以后，身体反而比以前更好了。
   我本来想劝劝他的，没想到他反而更生气了。 
     
   In compound sentences with the “不但+不\ 没……， 反而……” construction, “不但” is placed in the negative clause, and “反问” is placed in front of the predicate of the positive clause to indicate that the condition in the context has brought about a result contrary to one’s expectation, for example,

  风不但没有停，反而越刮越大了。
  这样不但不能解决问题，反而会带来更多的矛盾。
  听了大家的批评， 他不但没有生气，反而很高兴。
  邻居们不但没有笑话我们，反而围过来想帮助我们。
