Qiantang River
The Qiantang River, or anciently called Luosha River, has always been famed as "a world wonder" for its tide view. The August 18th in the Chinese lunar calendar is the annual tide-seeing day, with the best location for sightseeing being the Yanguan Town in Haining City. As a famous river in southeast China and the largest in Zhejiang Province, it boasts a length of 605km, flowing into the Hangzhou Bay down the Zhakou, Hangzhou. With a horn-shaped estuary, the reverse flow of ocean tide creates the famous "Qiantang tide". The trunk streams and tributaries of the river have been undergone a long-time development, with numerous sceneries of mountains, streams, caves and historic sites emerging on both banks. Famed as the "Golden Tourism Belt", the vast Qiantang River basin has nurtured rich specialties, colorful geography and customs and outstanding people inviting us all for a visit. |
